Facilities department making repairs; clean-up nearing completion

At about 5 a.m., Thursday, July 24, a 4-inch domestic water line broke at the northeast corner of the William J. Raggio building causing power outages, data services disruption and air cooling and water service outages. Several buildings were affected and some outages are anticipated to last through tomorrow.

The Facilities Services Department is working to restore services as quickly as possible. After extensive hand-digging, the water line break has been located and repairs are underway. Clean up of mud and water in the Raggio building and Judicial Council building are about 75 percent complete.

The National Judicial College building has all functions operating except air conditioning, and may be open tomorrow.

At Edmund J. Cain Hall, power is on, but the air conditioning and water service is off, and operations are otherwise normal.

The Raggio building, which houses the College of Education and related programs, will be closed through Friday as final clean-up, repair and data service restoration is completed. Classes and other services have been rescheduled or relocated.

Information Technology personnel are working to re-establish data and networking in the Raggio building, which will be completed Friday morning following restoration of utilities tonight.

People are asked to stay out of the work area; heavy equipment, cranes and other activities are hampered by pedestrian traffic disregarding the barriers.

All other buildings and services on campus are operating with regular services and on normal schedules.
