RENO, Nev. – The – Guinn Center – a statewide, nonpartisan research and policy center, will celebrate its affiliation with the University of ϱ, Reno with a panel discussion and reception on April 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the University’s Joe Crowley Student Union.
The panel discussion, entitled “The Importance of the Guinn Center at the University,” will be moderated by Dr. Angela Taylor with panelists from the Guinn Center and the University. It will highlight the history of the Center, the importance of having a policy think tank in ϱ and the value of the affiliation between the Center and the University.
“One of the first decisions I made after becoming president of the University in late 2020 was to move forward with the affiliation with the Guinn Center,” University President Brian Sandoval said. “We recognized the need for additional policy research here at the University – in part because of the complex policy decisions confronting our leaders and in part to continue our work as a Carnegie R1 research institution.”
The Guinn Center seeks to advance evidence-based policy solutions through research, public engagement and strategic partnerships. As a policy lab, it works closely with practitioners to provide relevant analysis, develop and implement evidence-based programs and test actionable solutions.
WHAT: The University of ϱ, Reno and the Guinn Center will host a panel discussion and reception to celebrate the Center’s 2021 transition of affiliation to the University.

- Remarks will also be given by Guinn Center Board Chair Phil Satre and President Sandoval.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The panel will be held from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m., and the reception will begin at 6:15 p.m.
WHERE: The panel discussion will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union (JCSU) Theatre, and the reception will be held in the JCSU Great Room.
