Find a faculty mentor

Here are some steps to help you get started:

  • Setting up a first conversation with a prospective faculty mentor is a great professional development opportunity. You will talk about your experiences, interests and discuss potential fit within their research or creative program.
  • Do not be concerned if you don't have lots of research experience yet. The reason you are at the University is to get this experience.
  • Review the mentor's research through the facility profile page and/or the department mentor portals. You don't have to be an expert at their work, but you should know why you want to talk to them.
  • Come prepared with some idea of the amount of time you can commit during a semester. Discuss if this is a good fit with the mentor's needs.
