Career and community mentorship
Sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Honors College have the opportunity to work with a variety of mentors, based on their individual interests. These mentorship networks span academic disciplines, career fields and communities with individuals passionate about supporting our extraordinary students. We invite you to explore these networks to grow beyond the classroom.
The Honors Research Mentorship Program pairs you with a postdoctoral researcher at the University to explore opportunities for conducting independent research, prepare for graduate school and learn what it takes to be a successful researcher and academic.

The Honors Connect Mentorship Program connects you with experienced community members, professionals, honors alumni, and parents of honors students. Build your network in an informal and fun environment with your mentor. As your trusted supporter, the mentor can inform you about their own career path, as well as help you explore your own career goals, point you in the right direction to achieve that goal, advise you on avoiding pitfalls and identify resources along the way.
Serving as a role model, the mentor may be a guide, champion, advocate, and motivator for the mentee. Mentors may be local to Reno/Sparks, with possible opportunities outside the area as well. The Honors Connect Mentorship Program is a great way to deepen connections and perhaps even build a lifelong friendship.
