The Center for Basque Studies at the University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno is the leading research and educational institute of its kind in the United States, offering you an unparalleled opportunity to study the unique language, Euskara, of the Basque region as well as to explore a range of topics in Basque culture, including sports, art and history as well as the Basque diaspora in the U.S. 

All students in the minor study at least one year of the Basque language, but additional requirements for the minor provide you the flexibility to choose the course topics that interest you. Additionally, the minor, which can be completed entirely online, allows you to choose course formats that work with your schedule, including courses taken abroad. 

The University of ÁùºÏ±¦µä, Reno is also home to the , which maintains an archive of historical records related to the Basque country, as well as the Center for Basque Studies Press, which is the largest English-language publisher in the world on Basque related topics. 

Study abroad in the Basque country

Located in northern Spain and southwestern France, the Basque country encompasses gorgeous coastal landscapes, mountains and farmland, as well as a number of vibrant European cities. You can chose to study abroad in the Basque Country in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain; Bilbao, Spain or Pau, France, where you can complete both foreign language requirements for the minor and take courses in topics such as politics, dance and cuisine.
